Sommarboken - Tove Jansson Such a beautiful book, everything about it. The cover is made by the artist herself and if you look carefully, you can just make out Sophia and grandmother out on the end of the island. There are very few people in the book but a lot of nettles, rosebushes, spiders, birds and cats.
A lot of Sophias emotions feel so familiar, I was just like her. I remember how everything felt so close and how all the sounds grew larger inside the tent at night. I remember painting horrible pictures of my best friend and then forgetting why we were so mad.
This is a book to return to often and just miss summer up north.
